What Are We If God Is KING & FATHER?
There are two powerful images that are often used when talking about God. The first image is God as King. We get a picture of this in Psalms 4:47 which says, “For God is the King of all the earth; sing to him a psalm of praise.” The second image is God as Father. We can see this image in Isaiah 64:8 which reads, “But now, O Lord, You are our Father, We are the clay, and You our potter; And all of us are the work of Your hand.” When we take either of these images by themselves we are either servants of the King, or children of the Father. The reality is that those two images belong together, and when we do put them together there is only one thing we could possibly be… We are a princess or a prince. As children of the King we are still called to respect, trust, and serve Him. At the same time, we have the blessing to be able to enjoy living as royalty. We get to partake of our Father’s kingdom, and the Father is always looking to care for His children and their future. As children of the King we have the responsibility to serve the King and Kingdom, all the while knowing that our Father is working all things for our good. Romans 8:28 states, “We know that in everything God works for good with those who love him, who are called according to his purpose.” I encourage all of you to enjoy being the beloved child of THE King and be ready to serve Him as an obedient child.
